Altera Avalon SD / SDIO / MMC Host Controller (v1.1)
FPS-Tech has designed a sophisticated SD / SDIO / MMC Host Controller for Altera Avalon-MM (memory-mapped) based systems. The host-controller supports both 1 and 4-bit Data modes, with hardware CRC calculations for CRC generation and verification. For accelerated data transfer and minimal software overhead, an advanced DMA engine with a deep FIFO is used to execute block-based data transfers. Please read the datasheet for in-depth information.

- SD Host IP Evaluation component - Please feel free to download our Altera Open-core time-limited megafunction for evaluation. It is the fully functional core with the exception that it operates in tethered mode only, and only supports 1-bit Data mode. You will need an evaluation license to test out the core, so please send us an email with your NIC ID or GUARD ID, and we'll generate one for you!
- Sample Quartus project for Cyclone III Embedded Eval. kit (NEEK) - this contains an example Quartus project with the evaluation SD Host IP compiled into full-featured SOF. The evaluation component is included, as well as the 10/100 OpenCores MAC (credit to Igor and JakobJones). NIOS II PTF file and precompiled kernel binary zImage are also included. Simply download the SOF to the NEEK and then download the zImage kernel binary. LED0 on the NEEK is connected to the BUSY output for activity indication.
